Hi everyone,

Beauty Boxes in Canada

12 Jan

Over the last little while I’ve gotten back into makeup after a long hiatus (I still don’t know what I’m doing but I am learning and having fun at it!). It all started again with selling Avon but I got curious about other brands too so picked up a Sephora Favorites In The Glow set for blushes, bronzer and illuminators. These are minis of their most popular selling products. Overall they were a better deal than buying full size and some I really liked, some didn’t blow me away. I also love having minis because they last forever and don’t take up so much space.

Then someone mentioned the whole beauty box thing to me and I’d never heard of it before. You pay a monthly subscription fee and every month you receive a box of goodies (including minis)! Actually I’d only heard of Julep Maven but who needs that much nail polish? The original seems to have been Birch Box but it’s only available in the USA. There is one that ships to Canada from the US called Ipsy (http://www.ipsy.com) however their box is $10 and while shipping in the USA is free, shipping to Canada is another $5. It seems to be one of the better ones in the USA so I signed up anyways, and can cancel at any time.

After a bit of looking I discovered the best one in Canada seems to be TopBox (http://www.topbox.ca/referral?lrRef=UJJjg). They send 4 samples a month for $12 plus tax, no extra shipping. Their brands are numerous and are great brands whereas some had a list of brands I have never even heard of. The down side is there is a wait list however I only had to wait a month and I’ll be getting my first one in February!

The last box I signed up for is Beauty Box 5 (https://www.beautybox5.com/home.php?key=50d6d894a8157). They send 5 samples a month for about the same price depending on how many months you sign up for. I signed up for 3 months for $30 and there was no tax. TopBox will be $40 with tax for those same 3 months. This one has varied reviews but has had some good boxes in the past. I will likely only keep it for the 3 months I signed up for since I have my TopBox membership now.

I looked at other ones like Loose Button (LuxeBox) but they have one expensive box every 3 months now and that is not worth the risk for me. I am comfortable spending a smaller amount per month but don’t want to shell out over $20 for a box I don’t receive very often. The other one Glymm has had terrible reviews of late (both customer service and what’s in the boxes) so they were probably coasting on previous success, which means maybe they’ll pick it up again big time, but maybe not. Same for GlossyBox.

Anyways, I plan to branch out this blog a bit to include unboxings of what I get in my beauty boxes and some reviews of the products as well. So stay tuned!

To sum up, here are the Canadian options:

TopBox (http://www.topbox.ca/referral?lrRef=UJJjg) - $12 a month

Ipsy (http://ipsy.com) – $15 a month

Beauty Box 5 (https://www.beautybox5.com/home.php?key=50d6d894a8157) – $10 to $12 a month

Glymm (http://www.glymm.com/) – $10 a month

GlossyBox (http://www.glossybox.ca/) – $21 a month

Luxe Box (https://www.loosebutton.com/) – $24 every 3 months

Julep Maven (http://www.julep.com/) – $20 a month

Quick Picks

This bronzer quick pick is an enticing one. I have the bronzing beads in this line and they’re great plus they were made in Italy. I had been wondering if this one was as good so I *might* have to try it out.

All Catalogs

Same Mark magalog as last time, as well as the Valentine’s day flyer which is worth a look. The outlet flyer has a lot of nice jewelry items in it. The main catalog is very similar to the last one but some of the differences are below. It has a lot of Valentine’s day stuff in it as well.

Screen Shot 2013-01-02 at 4.45.27 PMMain Catalog

This catalog is very similar to the last one so if you’re interested in seeing the valentine’s day offerings again, just look at that post. The real excitement in this campaign is that the speed dry formula has been revamped to have lava rock in it. I found it chipped more than the nailwear pro so this will be awesome in itself. But wait… there’s more… there’s 25 new shades! Most of the shades seem similar to the nailwear pro line but you might find a newcomer. No sequins finishes which are my favorite so a bit of a bummer. $2.99 is definitely cheap enough to warrant picking up a few.

These are cheapest I’ve seen them for awhile. The WOW mascara is one of the best, if not the best, for defining without clumping. I’m not really sure why I just don’t use it all the time. I like to experiment I guess but really, you cannot go wrong with this mascara. It uses a fibre brush, not one of the ones with plastic bristles. It’s not a “wet” mascara either so it really lifts and separates lashes. I hate when you have to wait for a mascara to be a few months old before it has that effect. Only downside is it only comes in black. I wore this on a 50km/hr water slide in Disney World and it stayed on but does just wash off with hotel soap, so I swear by this one :)

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 10.11.09 PM

These are new and sort of cute.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 10.13.18 PM

Best price this has been yet. I love this argan oil. I’ve had mine for months now and I’m only halfway through. The bottle is glass but I love the pump part of it. Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 10.13.53 PM Hmmm, this looks tempting…Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 10.14.15 PM Great price since this includes the sprays.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 10.14.35 PM

This is a new set for Valentine’s day (I think). Since there’s no massage oil, I’m just not sure… body wash just isn’t that romantic? I know it has passion fruit in it but other than that, I don’t see the passion in this set. But maybe makes a good gift anyways. I like the colors, they look sumptuous.

Same as last campaign.

Outlet

Here’s a few pages from the outlet flyer. Some great deals on rings both sterling silver and non silver.

Screen Shot 2013-01-02 at 4.47.47 PM

These majestic earrings are enticing. They’re rhodium plated which is great. I loved the look of the ring but found wearing a copy of Princess Di’s ring to be a bit tacky. The earrings however I think I can get away with :)

Screen Shot 2013-01-02 at 4.49.47 PM

These red leather gloves are nice. I got them in the last campaign. I like that they have cuffs to keep your wrists warm. $25 is a good price, should be regular price in my opinion so they’re not a great deal but they are nice.

Quick Picks

Screen Shot 2012-12-18 at 9.56.43 PM

Main Catalog

This big deal in this campaign are bundles. In the first few pages there are kids’ bundles, naturals bundles, foot bundles, scent bundles. etc. They’re all $12.99. BUT there are FINALLY some new items!!! Quite a bit for Valentine’s day and a lot of the new stuff is near the end of the catalog so bear with me here…

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.46.21 PM

Interesting incentive for Curves. Buy one Curves item and you get a 2 week pass to Curves. There are items as cheap as the socks with the zipper compartment for $7.99 so if you want the pass, it’s cheap enough to get :) New guests only though.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.46.56 PM

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.48.35 PM

There’s a few new makeup items. Lip gloss, eye primer, cream eyeshadow and the cream eyeshadow brush. The eyeshadow brush is awesome. It’s like a concealer brush but smaller so great for the eye area. The primer I’m still waiting on as it was backordered but it looks to be a great deal. The cream eyeshadows also had a great review online so I picked up one of those to try. At first I thought the shades weren’t that interesting but then I googled swatches for winter taupe for example, and it looked beautiful! Apparently it doesn’t crease either. Will get it this order and report back :)

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.48.50 PM

The brushes are on sale in case you need one. The eye liner one is on sale as well for $3.99 in the valentine’s deals flyer.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.54.49 PM

Great price on the full size cleansers.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.55.16 PM

These earrings are new for Valentine’s day and are awfully cute.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.55.44 PM

This aquamarine ring is quite nice.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.56.16 PM

And now I introduce Valentine’s Day! LOVE the silicon tea strainer. I have the same one in the shape of an orange and it’s great. The mug is really cute too.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.56.39 PM

And what says love like getting your one and only something with the Biebs on it? I’m not sure “love is your first crush” is really a healthy slogan but one cannot take this too seriously after all :)

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.57.06 PM

Great deal which includes the sprays.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.57.27 PM

Ok, so I got these gloves. They are not joking when they say exfoliating. These actually hurt because they have this sparkly stuff woven through them that is essentially metal. I’ve only used them once so maybe they’ll soften up. If you like that raw feeling of a whole new layer of skin, then these are definitely for you. Otherwise… you might just try the drugstore brand. They are certainly cute and sparkly though.Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.57.56 PM

This is the new line for Valentine’s day. I wonder if it will go away after that though. It can’t be cheap to develop these products for just a few campaigns. Nevertheless this shadow sounded promising being crease-proof etc. I got this as a demo in the purple shades (bombshell). This was terrible honestly. It was not pigmented at all, and I tried using it wet and was also not impressed. Just looked super washed out and boring. However the mascara is amazing! It has this curled, fibre brush but the formula is not clumpy at all. This is definitely a winner, I hope it sticks around. I love the curvaceous shape of the packaging as well.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.58.09 PM

I also picked up these rhinestone earrings and necklace as a demo. These are fabulous. Especially the earrings which I will definitely wear on NYE!

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.58.47 PM

These are new scents as well. I like these sprays as underarm deodorants. The scent also sounds promising. Cute packaging :)Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 9.58.54 PM

Mark Magalog

There’s not a lot of new items here (there will be in the next one!) but there are a few things worth mentioning. There’s a new coral necklace on the cover that is… interesting. Love these green earrings though. The mark jewelry is sort of expensive compared to the Avon stuff. I’m not really prepared to shell out $18 for these. However there’s a leaf pair coming up in the next campaign that are so unique I might have to.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 10.00.12 PM

This tinted moisturized used to only come in 4 shades and now it comes in 7. I got this in the “light” shade and I believe it was the right shade but there is basically no coverage. This is extremely sheer and to be honest, just not that moisturizing. It also has a flimsy cap hinge so half of the hinge broke right off. Won’t be long til the other half does and then I have to hope it won’t squirt around my makeup bag. In retrospect I should have gotten the “got the goods” foundation lotion which apparently is similar (if not the same) to a BB cream. However it’s $20 and I ended up getting a pack of 4 Dr. Jart trial sizes from Sephora instead for $34 which per ml was a better price. I will use this though when I’m lazy and the added SPF should be nice for summer.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 10.00.29 PM

This loose powder is new I guess? I thought I saw it before and it was just new shades that were new. I don’t use loose powder anyways. I like the translucent mineral stuff instead which gives a bit of a glow while controlling oil and setting your makeup. The Avon one is actually really nice.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 10.00.44 PM

These shadows aren’t new but I like the way they’re laid out. I’ve had all 3 of them. I ended up returning the on the dot regular one not because I didn’t like it but because I realized that only 6 of the shades were truly wearable for me, and THEN the super drama one came out with a blue that actually is wearable as well as a beautiful green so I got that instead. I also picked up the neutral palette because those are actually colors that I wear all the time. I can’t tell much of a difference between some of the shades in there… but because the formula is superior I’ll live with it.

Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 10.00.57 PM

Finally this purse is new and looks like a gym bag. You can remove the pink stripe to make it less “gym-ey”.Screen Shot 2012-12-13 at 10.01.24 PM

Outlet

Nothing worth mentioning unless you want 2 packs of capri leggings…

Valentine’s Day

The ergonomic eye liner brush for $3.99 is worth a mention and the earrings for $4.99. They look like hearts so they might make an inexpensive Valentine’s Day gift, though originally they came out for Christmas.

Only a new main catalog this time around.

Main Catalog

Honestly I was expecting a lot from this campaign. First campaign of 2013, I thought a lot of new products but it doesn’t seem that way. There are some interesting things coming out and a few sales but not a lot.

The first thing is this jewelry set:

Screen Shot 2012-11-29 at 10.30.19 PM

These earrings looks nice as well. I like the princess cut.

Screen Shot 2012-11-29 at 10.30.37 PM

These eyeshadows are new, and so is the brush. The brush I got as a demo and it’s actually really nice.

Screen Shot 2012-11-29 at 10.31.43 PM

These are new as well and are a neat idea but none of these examples really look all that great to me. You could also use use a pin and regular nail polish though this might be a little easier.

Screen Shot 2012-11-29 at 10.32.36 PM

There are some nice items on this page but some aren’t even on sale. The ergonomic rounded eyebrow brush is $2.99 down from $7.99 though so that’s a huge savings and it has great reviews online. I will pick up one of these as a crease brush. The glow brush is a great brush but it’s not on sale, however $5.99 is pretty cheap anyways.

Screen Shot 2012-11-29 at 10.35.51 PM

Argan oil treatment is buy 1, get 1 free so the effective price is about $6 each if you pick up two.

Screen Shot 2012-11-29 at 10.48.48 PM

LOVE these red leather gloves, going to get those. I also ordered the brown corduroy leggings in C26 so if you’re interested, just message me to find out how they fit :) They only list these sizes in them here but they were available in all sizes for the same price in C26 so I can still try to get them.

Screen Shot 2012-11-29 at 10.45.52 PM

Really good price on the bubble bath. Not all of the previous scents are available but still some good ones here.

Screen Shot 2012-11-29 at 10.49.15 PM

Now this is an interesting page. There’s the smudge corrector which hasn’t shown its face for awhile. Has great reviews online and as someone who smudges fairly often, I’ll have to try this out. Screen Shot 2012-11-29 at 10.33.02 PM

Quick Picks

The quickpick for $5 would make good stocking stuffers. It seems a bit early for a sun pack unless you’re going on holidays and that instant gel cuticle remover I did not care for. Not terribly excited about these unfortunately.

Catalogs

We have a new mark catalog this time around and the one with the green cover is worth looking at.

This big deal in this campaign is this holiday blockbuster that you can pick up for $25 if you spend $15 in the brochure.

Nice mixed pack for kids.

The palette is still available, now for $35 without making a brochure purchase.

I have the bronzing pearls at the top, they are made in Italy and I just love them. $10 is definitely worth it and these little beads last forever! I can’t tell if they are even used. I really want to try the Hawaiian Shores bronzing petals as well before they are gone forever. They had great reviews.

The minis are starting to sell out. Night violet and cotton candy are already gone.

Mark is having a sale! This doesn’t happen all the time though the items aren’t that exciting. I wish their makeup came on sale :(

Cute Christmas gift.

Lots of sterling silver on sale in the green covered book.

I picked this roulette set up as a gift and I was surprised at the quality of it. Still need to have that casino party.

More good deals…

The Hawaii shores dress is nice but unfortunately shorter than the mark maxi dresses.

LOVE the blue dress shown on this page. I am picking that up. I also am getting a small in the chunky sweater wrap so if you’re interested in that one, I can let you know how mine is before this order comes in.

From this page I like the zebra maxi dress. I’ve bought the play with prints and the one shouldered dress and they did not work out for me at all. The zebra dress fits big though, and it’s quite long.

This convertible dress by mark is a nice one.

Some nail polish delights on this page. The mini mark colors look adorable.

Sort of interested in the face mattifier. I don’t know what it’s made of though, and reviews said it smelled fishy? It sounds a bit odd so I’m not sure about it…

Good deal on these.

Review

The only thing I wanted to mention about my last order is the all over eyeshadow brush by mark for $10. It is by far the best eyeshadow brush I have ever owned. I didn’t know they even made them this good. Remember how you used to get shadow all over your face when putting it on? This brush prevents that. It’s so awesome. Reason being it’s firm and shorter so it doesn’t flick everywhere.

Avon Campaign 25 Highlights

11 Nov

I didn’t post any review this time around but I did attach it to the end of this post. It was all about mark products for me (getting addicted!). Posting this a bit early but want to make sure everyone gets their Christmas shopping in early!

Beauty Bundles

These bundles are available for $25 with no further purchase necessary. These would make great Christmas presents!

Quick Picks

Catalogs

Wow, this palette looks awesome! This is just like my Sephora one that was $50. It even had the same design on the lid. This would make someone pretty happy at Christmas time :)

Paula Abdul has joined Avon now to flog some jewelry and a purse it seems. The jewelry isn’t bad but it’s not that unique either. Looks the same as other Avon jewelry. I think at some point I saw the words “chosen by” not “designed by”. This is a bit dodgy, yes? Oh there it is in tiny letters on the side underneath “Forever”.

My favorite jewelry picks are the CZ cocktail ring (which is on sale in the jewelry flyer) for $25 and the textured fashion earrings which I own in both silver and hematite. The price on those varies but I can get them in C24 for the introductory price of $5 still, otherwise they are $15 regular price or 2 for $20. They are really lightweight, non-irritating (I have metal allergies) and look really great. Worth checking out the jewelry catalog.

There’s this tea pot taunting me again for not being a morning person.

This roulette set is so cute! I got it as a birthday present and it’s actually better quality than I thought. I can just imagine having casino parties at home and giving guests fake cash. Just need a few more games…

Mascara 3 pack is a good deal.

This folding mirror is a neat idea.

The wait is finally here. The limited edition winter colors are out! And I have to say I’m a little disappointed. These colors look great on the model but I’m not sure that many of us could rock out onto the street wearing her eye makeup unless it was 80s night. That being said, the chilling teal nail polish color is phenomenal! It really is a beautiful icy green. I haven’t tried the two others. The blue one says it’s a sequins finish but I think that might be an error based on what I saw when I googled it. The green goddess… just not really my thing, too green.

More nice stocking stuffers, plus a cute travel brush set.

Great price on 3 nail polishes so if you’ve been waiting to stock up on some colors (including the new Fall ones), here’s your chance! These nail polishes are fantastic. I’m especially fond of the sequins ones as they end up with a metallic look to them. But I love how smooth the cremes are as well. These are free of formaldehyde, toluene and the other one I always forget, the big three. I would also recommend the UV top coat, and smooth beginning base coat to go with these, they are quite excellent. Prices vary on those so I’d have to check but about $4 each is the normal sale price.

Still like “A”. Now it’s on sale again for $7.99

Three new sterling silver rings for the holidays. There’s the CZ band and CZ princess solitaire. They are quite glitzy. The pointsetta ring though is really nice looking. I’m not even sure it’s that pointsetta-y. It’s similar in design to the orchid ring I already own which I really like. If I didn’t have that one I would be tempted by this one, even as a cocktail ring, it’s quite eye-catching.

This berry vanilla scent still sounds delicious. This is pretty cheap and cute nail polish color to boot.

Bubble baths are 2 for $10 again which is good but now all the scents are available. Black raspberry/bear is still my favorite. Apparently this stuff is great for getting out stains, or washing floors and what not. Just google it seriously, it’s a thing! I have only used it for its intended purpose. It’s a GIANT bottle as well so it will last forever.

This is a good deal too, the argan oil is the one I’d go for. I love the argan oil treatment. It’s better than salon ones that I’ve purchased and it’s only $10.

Love these scrubby gloves. I picked this set up already, and the scent is really nice. Definitely floral but in a fresh sort of way.

Wow, these are now only 99 cents! These minis are just great. They picked the most popular colors and put them in teeny cute bottles. The brush remains the same and goes to the bottom of the bottle so you get good value from them. Would make adorable stocking stuffers. They are exactly 1/4 of the size of a full size bottle so the price is equivalent. Fuchsia, Decadence, Rave and Gunmetal are probably my top picks from these.

Outlet

I’ve been waiting for this to come back. It’s been missing from the last campaigns and I really wanted to try it. I didn’t even know one needed 3 colors to define a cheek but recently found out. This makes it easy by giving you all 3 in one compact. The bronzer goes in the hollow of your cheeks, the blush on your apples and the highlighter above all that. Supposedly you can just sweep your brush along this and apply. However in videos people just use the part they’re working on to get a more accurate representation of their face. There were originally 2 colors, blissful and angelic, and this was the lighter of the two. Definitely getting one for myself.

The poof, brush set and other stuff on this page are also a good deal.

Some good footworks deals.

Wanted to try a whole bunch of scents at once? You can try 5 here as shower gels. Also the ice cream scrubs are adorable and the chocolate smells heavenly.

Mark

This is the same catalog as the previous campaign but not in the flyer list for some reason, so to see it: http://www.ca.avon.com/PRSuite/eBrochure.page?index=3&cmpgnYrNr=201224.

There’s really only two new things worth mentioning. First there’s a liner/eyeshadow set for $24. It’s called the “drama case”. Comes with 6 eyeshadow colors and 4 liners, which are wet/dry and highly pigmented. The colors look very wearable and for mark, this is actually a great deal. I originally thought about getting it but instead got the “on the dot”, and both star status palettes, as well as the 4 cream eyeshadow pots below. I really really don’t need this… but… :)

The next thing isn’t new (except for the vanilla scent) but it’s a great package deal. $22 for a body butter, body mist and lotion in 3 possible fragrances. Also comes in a gift bag. Nice ready to give gift.

Mark Review!

I thought I’d also take this opportunity to review some of the mark stuff I got in the C23 campaign. It was way too much but I knew I was going to ask for some of it for Christmas so I went a little overboard :) Unfortunately I decided I can’t go 2 months without having this stuff so no longer Christmas presents… unless I pick up some other colors!

Glowdacious Illuminating Powder ($16)

I got this shade in the lightest one, “prettied up”. It is definitely illuminating. Do you know when you put on all your makeup and then you put powder on to stop you from getting greasy? And then you look really bland… I personally wait for that optimal moment when the oil on my face gives me a healthy sheen. Unfortunately shortly after it can be a grease pit. Well this gives the lovely sheen :) It has teeny glitter particles in it. Sounds tacky but it isn’t. I actually used this without foundation. It’s light-diffusing enough that it worked for me. I think I saw someone call it “dewy”. That sounds much nicer than oil emerging. I actually want to get this in shimmied up too to use as a shimmer bronzer.

Touch & Glow Shimmer Face Cubes ($18)

These are cubes in different shades that can be used as highlighters, eyeshadows or swirled together for an all over the face glow. These are creams and not powders, so they say. They feel like creamy powder to me. I got the mini kabuki in order to use these. When swirling them and putting them all over the face, I would say they have the same effect as the glowdacious illuminating powder. The difference though is that you can use them individually as highlighters, eyeshadows etc. I was having some trouble applying these with a brush, and my finger. I realized since they’re cream you have to push hard with your finger and hard on your skin. I don’t love that but it’s just so pretty I will learn to work with it. This didn’t work well for me with an eyeshadow brush. The kabuki it did because the kabuki is a hard brush. These take a lot of pressure.

Keep it Going Longwear Eyeshadow/Liner ($12 each)

These were marketed as cream eyeshadows that are crease proof. They can double up as liners or shadows. You get 2 colors in one compact and should probably use a concealer brush or the brush mark sells to apply then. There’s lots of shades so I ended up getting 4 of them:

Iconic (gold and green)
Entourage (silver and black)
Surreal (copper and blue)
Exposure (dark / light brown)

These have a cap on the inside that keeps the area with the shadows water tight so they don’t dry out. Unfortunately the iconic one must have been busted so I have to do an exchange on it. The other 3 were fantastic though. It glides on like silk and dries quickly. They are VERY pigmented though. I didn’t take the liner thing seriously so I thought I could use the dark blue in the surreal combo (below) as an eyeshadow color. Not so much, it’s just really dark. I can see how I would mix the eyeshadow colors though across compacts with the different liners. The copper color in surreal is gorgeous and the blue even as a thick eyeliner would look good.

Gloss Gorgeous Lip Stain/Gloss ($12)

This stuff interested me because it’s both. Once the gloss wears off, you’re left with a stain. You click the bottom and it comes out through the lip brush top. I didn’t expect to love this as much as I did. It’s not that it just does what it says, but the gloss actually lasts forever too. Usually as soon as you drink or eat something, the gloss is gone but this stuff stuck on. It’s also very moisturizing. The color I got was bella but I found it a bit too pink for me. I’m going to try spicy and bare next.

Metal Works Eyeliner ($10)

I was tempted to buy this because it came in metallic forest green (it also comes in purple and blue). The color looks great as does the product. I was hoping this would come with the same super thin brush as the hook up liquid eyeliners but unfortunately it’s a tad thicker. This makes it harder for liquid eyeliner newbs like me to get it on properly. If you know what you’re doing, this probably isn’t an issue :)

Metalliner Eyeliner ($7)

This stuff has been in campaigns for awhile, but I loved mark’s other liquid liner so much, and I wanted a vibrant bronze color. This was the only liner offered in that shade. I love this as much as I love their get in line one. The shade is ideal for my coloring. It’s not actually that vibrant but it looks pretty natural, like a medium brown but with gold shimmer. The brush is thin and super easy to use.

What a Line Felt Tip Eyeliner ($7)

I read another review online that said this was in her top 5 couldn’t live without products. That they are easy for a steady hand as well. I thought with that glowing review I would check it out as a standard liner so I got it in brown. She was right! This is easy to use and with the shape of the felt tip, you can actually build up to a thicker line quite easily.

Brushes ($7 to $10)

I picked up some brushes to go along with these makeup purchases. I got the kabuki for $7 which is intended for use with the shimmer cubes. I didn’t want to much up my foundation kabuki plus reviews said a stiff brush was needed for the cubes. It’s adorable and the small size makes it very easy to target areas for use. I also like how it has a cap so it would be great for travel. I hate chucking my full size kabuki into my makeup bag.

Another brush is the powder tool. This cute pink brush is limited edition for Christmas. To be honest the pink color and sequins is why I wanted it because I have a powder brush already. However it was just so cute. Anyways I am super glad I got it. It’s way softer than the Sephora one that I had, and it’s way way bigger. I realize now my Sephora ones may have been travel size when compared to this. I absolutely adore this brush. It’s a bit expensive at $22 though once I got my hands on it I think it is worth it.

I also meant to get the mark angled contour brush. This is an angled blush brush that makes highlighting your cheeks easier. It’s not in the catalog, which I don’t understand. But here’s a pic and it’s $10. I have all over powder brushes and I even have the bare minerals blush brush. But they don’t seem to provide a lot of precision so I’ve been using the fan brush that came in one of my compacts. However, while better than the other two for highlighting, it’s still not the most pleasant. I ordered the flat blush brush thinking they didn’t carry this one anymore but turns out I made a mistake so that one is going back (it’s nice but I really want this one!)

I got the flat eyeliner brush to go along with the cream eyeshadow pots. I have a concealer brush I use for the mark primer but I wanted to keep it clean. I also have liner brushes. But I didn’t have one I thought would work with the cream shadows. Of course I could use my finger, but that didn’t appeal to me so much. I got this for $10. This works really well with the cream eyeshadows. The only thing is you have to wash it after every use because those cream eyeshadows really stick!

Finally I got an eyeshadow brush. I have lots but they seem to get stray hairs poking out and are too fluffy. I wanted one that would provide a bit more leverage for highlighting my tear duct and outer lids. They have an all over shadow brush, but I have enough of those, so I got the plain eyeshadow brush that has contoured edges for this purpose. Unfortunately it must be a good one as it was currently out of stock so I have to wait for it :( It was $8.

Star Status Palettes

I put these at the end because I reviewed them before but I love them so much I thought I’d mention them again. They are $22 each and come in 2 color sets. This is actually a good price for these baked ones made in Italy compared to other brands. They can be used wet or dry and as liner or shadow. They are very pigmented and sparkly, I love them and currently they are out of stock so hopefully they churned out more by this order.

Please Hold Eye Primer

Reviewed this before too so just a quick mention. $10 eye primer, comes in light/medium or medium/dark. Cute compact and great product.

On the Dot Metallic Eye Color

This comes in neutrals and colors. You don’t get a lot of colors but it’s enough if you only use blue every once in awhile like me. I really like this eye shadow and the diversity of colors you get, while still getting the basics. $18.
